I finished something!

Hello all, it's been a little bit. I have been knitting away. I am still all over the place with the amount of current projects but I did finish a hat, and with stash yarn too! I had a skein of amazing Malabrigo worsted in the colorway Cadmium. This made a gorgeous hat. It was supposed to be for me but my daughter fell in love with it & snagged it. 

New Cast Ons: 2 separate socks, both vanilla. I knitted one big tube from cuff to finished toe and today attempted the afterthought heel with no waste yarn. Um, it was a fail, I think. I picked up all my stitches above and below and then did the dreaded cut, but obviously cut in the wrong place because the stitches on my bottom knitting were falling off. I'm pretty sure I can still salvage them but was getting pretty frustrated so they may be in time out for at least a few days. 
I did learn I love using the 9" circular for socks. I have been using a 32" magic loop but bought the smaller one even though I just knew I was going to hate it. I loved it! The sock knit up so quick. I promptly bought two more pairs!

I also just cast on another Bankhead hat. I figured if I finish some small projects it will make me feel better completing something, right?

This Week in WIPs: Besides the above mentioned projects I have been spending a lot of time on my Copenhagen Calling cowl, again thinking it's not a huge project to focus on finishing something. I am really enjoying this one, the pattern is fun and pretty light and loving the yarn as well (Amano Yarns Awa in colorways Indigo and Chapi Plant). I bring it with me on my daughter's library day to knit while she is in her teen program.

I love this top, it's just like a knitted tee and then I fell in love with the yarn I wanted for it. Oh my, I had this in my cart for over a week and went online and stared at it everyday. Saturday I finally ordered it and now have been staring at my email constantly, I CANNOT WAIT TO GET THIS YARN!

So, in short, I still have a short attention span on my knitting. There is just too much to knit and too little time. Until next time, Happy Crafting!

                              Echoes of Color cowl I love the electronic age for sure. Absolutely everything you can think of and more right there on your phone! But lately I've found myself reverting back to paper. For instance I do share an electronic calendar with my husband but I still have my paper planner with all the same things written down as well as to do lists and other notes in them. What's knitting?

For any that might read this I thought I would share a little bit about me. My name is Lindsey and I live in Arkansas. My family moved here from Illinois about 9 years ago for a job opportunity for my husband. That move also included a change from me working full time to being a full time mom to our then, 3 year old daughter. This was a whole new world for me! Fast forward a bit to us deciding to homeschool her, which would be my job. I eventually settled in for my role as house manager & teacher but something was missing. My day consisted of taking care of all things in the home, teaching my daughter & doing all errands so my husband wasn't burdened with any of that after working all day. I actually loved it, I felt in complete control of my surroundings, but when it came to myself, the only 'fun' I was partaking of was watching my daughter on a playdate next to other moms which I felt I had nothing in common with, and watching tv. A knitting journal...

So I have been knitting for a few years now, expanding my skill base, still making plenty of mistakes, still not finishing a sweater ( I will get there!) & realized I really wanted to make a journal of sorts. I am on Ravelry (AlwaysYarn) & have even updated projects this year that I have completed. But the kind of things stuck in my head is, 'why am I not picking up that shawl to knit, when I do still love it?', or 'why do I keep buying more project bags, is it just because I love them or because in my head I can cast on a new project and have a place for it?' I guess I just wanted to write a journal of sorts to put down what else is going on around me that maybe is affecting my knitting mojo, the specific problems I am having with a stitch or with a pattern to go behind my knitting.
